Workflow SLAs
This snip is dedicated to the research regarding workflow SLAs.
Potential Research topics
- (Automatic) construction of workflows by means of SLAs
- Dynamic SLAs (for dynamic or undeterministic workflows?)
- finding deterministic parts within the workflow
- SLA is more then ensuring execution time:
- Quality of Service
- Security issues (e.g., run the workflow only on trusted resources)
- Reliability of resources
- Costs
- What happens when SLAs are broken (fines etc.)
- How to monitor SLAs?
Brainstorming
- Analog to construction building: One company builds a house for you and you make a contract with the company to build the house with a certain quality within a certain timespan (this is the workflow). The company then subcontracts other companies to build the house and makes contracts with these subcontractors (this are subworkflows or atomic tasks/activities). If the company needs more time to build the house, then you get a discount etc...
- SLA steering cycle: SLA Negotiation -> SLA Agreement -> SLA Monitoring -> SLA Violation -> SLA Enforcement -> ...
