Access to Knowledge through the Grid in a mobile World

The main objective of the Akogrimo project is to bring together the market orientation and pervasiveness of mobile communication technology in everyday life with the promise of a dynamically concerted use of resources and services provided through Grid Infrastructure. In order to achieve this objective the consortium members will develop a Grid based layered middleware able to provide services in a mobile and dynamic environment.

The workflow issues cope with some aspects related to Akogrimo middleware and concerning the definition of complex Grid services by composing existing Grid services and leveraging on Grid resources. Through Akogrimo middleware, network and business operators will be able to develop new business activities and to provide profitable services in such Grid/mobile integrated environment. The composition languages and technologies must take into account the context (e.g. the maximum price and expected completion time for a service or, more in general, a SLA violation), the appearing/disappearing and mobility of resources in order to automatically adapt on dynamic and mobile Grid resources in pervasiveness e ubiquitous manner.

The existence of a Service Level Agreement (SLA) service has to be taken into account. The SLA provided should be mapped to specific solutions for the enactment of the business process. This will be done by the workflow manager. An important role will be given to the study of the automatic composition of SLA for specific workflow process.
