Within the I-Lab project, five institutes of the Fraunhofer Group Information and Communication Technology are developing a so-called Problem Solving Environment, which is based on a Fraunhofer computing grid.
The aim of the project is to make available comprehensive, globally distributed hardware and software resources for easy common usage from everywhere in the world, thereby making it possible to use these resources much more effectively. Special attention is paid to easy usability and user friendliness. The project will benefit from existing experiences concerning the effective reuse of software components and the interconnection of distributed computer systems.
